Running Dogs

by Barry Klemm

At times both heart-breaking and comic, Running Dogs is an account of war that tells the stories that official histories tend to neglect. With the small platoon of which the story's narrator Yogi Griffin is part, we are thrust into the reality of jungle warfare in Vietnam. Here, the pressures of the physical environment, the actions of the Vietcong -- as well as those of their own commanding officers -- and anger over how they came to be there and what is asked of them, take an ever heavier toll on the men. Increasingly, their worst enemy becomes themselves.
