by Robert Harris
A thrilling re-creation of one of the greatest natural disasters in human history. In 79AD Marcus Attilius, a young Roman engineer, is put in charge of the enormous aqueduct supplying fresh water to the Bay of Naples. When a problem develops, somewhere to the north of Pompeii, he heads off towards Mount Vesuvius - towards forces that even the world's only superpower cannot control.
