Punctuated by dogs and chooks and the daily tragi-comedy of small town life, "Bantam" follows Mick and his mates as they constantly court disaster and struggle to hold on in the roller-coaster ride of life on the dole.

Terry Whitebeach is a Tasmanian writer and "Bantam" which was written in collaboration with her son, Michael (Mick) Brown, is her second novel for young adults.

Mick Brown is a young bloke who has spent a lot of his life in small country
towns. His letters and phone calls to his mother were the inspiration for this book.
