March 9 - April 3 Lambs of God
by Marele Day
In a crumbling island monastery lost from time and modern living, three nuns eke out an existence. At night they tell stories as they knit - weaving into their work the brilliant colour of myth and fairytale. The nuns have forgotten the outside world - until a worldly young priest stumbles into their lives.

April 6 - May 8 : The Harp in the South
by Ruth Park
In 1948 four things came into existence that have been of great significance in the years since: the Holden car; Ruth Park's classic novel, The Harp in the South; actress Anne Phelan; and the ABC Book Reading. And we've combined three of them in celebration.
The Harp in the South was Ruth Park's first novel. It is a nostalgic and moving portrait of the eventful family life of the Darcys, who live at number twelve-and-a-half Plymouth Street, one of the poverty-stricken streets of Sydney's Surry Hills. Irish blood flows in their veins. They roll with the punches and glory in their triumphs. Love brings both tragedy and happiness as well as the strength to take what life dishes out.
Anne Phelan, whose award-winning performance as Mumma in the
television mini-series based on this novel as well as its sequel, Poor Man's Orange, has more than a touch of the Irish in her ancestry too. She reads this exuberant novel, making the characters burst into life and making Ruth Park's classic story leap off the page and into our hearts.
