Margaret Atwood's ninth novel Alias Grace has been a worldwide best seller since its publication in 1996. Based on actual events, Alias Graceis the story of a servant girl in Ontario who in 1843 was convicted of the murder of her wealthy employer and his mistress. At the time, public opinion was split over whether or not Grace Marks was guilty, and she has become one of the most notorious and enigmatic women in Canadian history.

Into the story comes Dr Simon Jordan, who has a strong interest in the emerging field of mental illness, and tries to discover whether Grace is really guilty, innocent, mad, or even possessed.
