There are plans to dam the biggest river system on the East Coast - the Fitzroy catchment area in Queensland. They say there'll be fantastic irrigation and economic development for the State. And, at the same time, we'll be able to actually mimic nature - and so keep the peace and quiet for boggomosses and the turtles.

Papua New Guinea Drought

The emergency of the drought and hunger in Papua New Guinea - hundreds of thousands of people are desperately short of food and water; the territory is rugged, tensions are high and the job of getting the relief in is enormous. The Australian Government is flying food in to 60,000 people who are in such inaccessible places the only way to reach them is by air. But the Papua New Guinea Government is also trying to deliver relief to a further 90,000 people who can be reached by road.

Bay of Secrets

Homebush Bay, in Sydney, was going to be the gateway to the Olympics - the ceremonial entrance for VIPs and athletes being ferried in to Australia's 'Green Games'. But the Bay is so heavily polluted - with dioxins and other chemicals - that it's no longer formally part of the Olympic site. Who will clean up the Bay? And who pays?
