"Honourable ancestors: John Kionut and Maureen Watson"

This week Awaye! John Kionut is from the Caddo people of Oklahoma and Aunty Maureen talks about our obligation to become honourable ancestors. John Kionut is from the Caddo people of Oklahoma. John is the last Caddo alive to speak the language, and speaks 14 other languages fluently. John is well into his seventies but still spends his time fighting for the religious rights of Native Americans, especially the use peyote in traditional ceremonies. Aunty Maureen Watson is a poet, actress, storyteller and great-great-grandmother, from the Kunggalu and Birri Gubba peoples of Queensland. Aunty Maureen talks about our obligation to become honourable ancestors.
