Who critiques the critics? Almost everyone, frankly. But what role for intelligent, informed, analysis and criticism? What role for the excoriating review?
earlier in the year on ATB, we critiqued three different styles of critique: literary art criticism; the food and restaurant review; and music criticism. If opinion isn't enough, we asked, then what else must it be?
Paul Barclay was joined by theatre and arts reviewer Angela Bennie - author of a book called Crème de la Phlegm; food writer Matthew Evans, a man who has dealt enormous power, in giving and taking away chef's hats; and music reviewer Andrew Khedoori. And of course, he was also reviewed by many callers from all round the country.
