Bioenergy or clean coal

The federal government has taken a big push towards carbon capture and storage, calling for a global research institute to be established in Australia backed up with 100 million dollars annually. The government has also plans for two clean coal power projects to be trialled in Central Queensland.

At the same time the Clean Energy Council in just launching its Bioenergy Roadmap, a strategic document outlining how to achieve a sustainable bioenergy industry. Its target is to provide 26 per cent of Australia's electricity from biomass by 2040. So, where lies our energy future -- in clean coal or in alternatives such as bioenergy from biomass?
