Rethinking farming
|
As Australia's most recent drought continues to affect large parts of the country, some farmers are still relying on Exceptional Circumstances assistance to keep afloat.
At the recent ABARE conference in Canberra, ministers, bureaucrats -- as well as some of the farming sector -- asked whether it might be time to review drought assistance.
As a nation do we need to be rethinking how and where we farm? Should we start redirecting drought mitigation money into relocating some of our primary producers out of agriculture?
