Architektin

Young lives, brilliant careers—interrupted and changed by war and revolution. This is a theme that has long interested Robyn Archer and which inspired the one-woman shows she did in the 1970s: A Star Is Torn and Tonight Lola Blau.

More recently, Robyn Archer has concentrated on being a festival director rather than on creating or performing shows. She has, however, just written a play that's about to open with the State Theatre Company of South Australia. It's called Architektin, and it's about a woman called Margarete Schutte-Lihotzky. She was the first female architect in Austria, and her life spanned the whole of the twentieth century and its sweep of political, social and artistic movements.
