About Book Talk
Book Talk is where listeners can hear conversations about
books with authors and expert commentators. The program's focus
is on non-fiction and biography, although there are occasional discussions
about works of fiction and the state of the publishing industry.
Although we are living through a period in history, dominated by the internet, when we can get information from the widest imaginable variety of sources, books are probably still our most important forum for the discussion of ideas and theories, as well as the place where significant events and personalities are described and analysed. Booktalk, through continuing the discussion, aims to contribute a new or fresh perspective to any debate and is a vital link to the public conversation.
Book Talk concentrates its attention on the world of ideas in
action. It takes a forensic interest in world politics and should
appeal to anyone who is keen to get to the bottom of the causes
of major conflicts and power struggles.
Radio National also broadcasts The Book Show, which focuses on fiction, non-fiction, writers and publishing.
