Jane
spent much of her childhood leisure time in the Snowy Mountains
High Country. It's a region she loves and still visits regularly.
Born and educated in Sydney, Jane received a BA (Hons) in Literature
from the University of Sydney. While studying, she was an active
member of the dramatic society, S.U.D.S, and a regular contributor
to the student newspaper. In the 1940s, both of Jane's parents
worked in radio - her father as an actor/writer and her mother as
an actor and ABC newsreader during World War Two.
Jane's ABC career has included experience as a script editor, producer
and broadcaster, working on programs ranging from drama and poetry
to documentaries, features, soundscapes and acoustic art. Her interest
in the natural world and field recording has led to the production
of special series of environmental soundscapes and the release of
3 CDs by the ABC. Jane has won many international awards including
the prestigious Prix Marulic and Prix Italia prizes.
