Buddhist Art: Endangered Species

In March 2001, the Taliban in Afghanistan destroyed the tallest standing Buddhas in the world. To Professor Pal, an eminent scholar of Asian art, the loss of the Bamiyan Buddhas confirms the importance of museums in the West.
