Intrepid Monk, Hsuan Tsang

05/11/2003
In the 7th Century when China was ruled by rival emperors who regarded India to be a land of barbarians, Hsuan Tsang (Xuanzang) set out on a journey west along the ancient Silk Road to India, the home of Buddhism. On a mission to retrieve as many Buddhist texts as possible, he finally returned to Dun Huang, central China, 18 years later. This is the story of the single most important monk in Chinese history.
