The streets of India are crowded with cars and cows because Hindus believe that the cow is sacred and must not be killed for food. But leading historian D. N. Jha shows in his book The Myth of the Holy Cow that Brahmanical and Buddhist diets included beef. Why did it change and why is Dr. Jha's life in danger for telling the truth about this sacred cow?
