Big Thinkers: "Mr Empiricist" - David Hume

Sue Clark kicks off an occasional All in the Mind series on big thinkers about the wilderness of the human mind. This week, Scottish born David Hume. Hume was an 18th Century historian, economist, sociologist and philosopher. He's been praised for returning philosophy to something approximating common sense, and the revival of deep skepticism. Hume, who apparently considered himself something of a pagan, was concerned with the limits of human knowledge, and argued that all knowledge can come only from experience - both sensory and mental. But what does this great Empiricist offer the crazed collective mind of the 21st Century?
