Crying: Is it Cathartic?

This week, All in the Mind whips out a handkerchief and has a good cry. Much of the science about sobbing has been speculative to date. Two longtime collaborators on a theory of weeping join Natasha Mitchell to contemplate whether adult crying is indeed cathartic, whether women cry more than men and why it is that only humans cry emotional tears? Weeping and wailing - it might be just what's needed at times like these.
