Vietnam veteran Ted Fish had not heard of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder until just four years ago, when he realised he'd actually been suffering it for the past 30 years. In this program we hear Ted's moving story. Also, some of the latest findings about PTSD which suggest that the disorder is not just about haunting memories from the past - but may have more immediate effects on memory functioning. Post-traumatic stress disorder - once known as shell shock - is sadly just as relevant as ever.

Western Australia has been coined the ADHD capital of Australia with an estimated 4.5 per cent or 18,000 children on dexamphetamine medication. Australia has the world's third highest rate of psycho-stimulant consumption in the world. It's a trend that has some very worried and has prompted a major parliamentary enquiry in WA. Manic depression or bipolar disorder is most famous for its extreme highs. In the throes of mania many people don't sleep, spend huge sums, and live life larger and faster than ever. The condition has traditionally been thought to be unresponsive to psychotherapy and Lithium, discovered by an Australian and toxic in overdose, has long been the mainstay of treatment.
