After forty years in a 'beer and chips' marriage, Jean senses life can begin again when her husband Kenneth dies. But Kenneth is still there. Unable to desert the beloved hotel he and Jean ran together, Kenneth's ghost keeps a close eye on the business.

Defying him, Jean makes changes that ripple across the whole town and ultimately set her free.
