An Accidental Guide to Sydney

A radiophonic work by Gail Priest from a text by Caitlin Newton-Broad. Shadowing young urban demi-god Murray, we encounter various characters on the city streets: Circuit Girl, Suit Guy and Unlucky Guy, among others. Our musical and sonic adventure takes us through some of the less salubrious inner city suburbs, on the edge of the CBD and definitely in a state of transition as we witness the playing out of a modern myth.

Cantata of Fire

Cantata of Fire is an imaginative listening experience which takes us into the compound in Waco, Texas during the 1993 siege as the Branch Davidian believers led by David Koresh prepared for the apocalypse. The persuaders were out in force; the FBI attempting their own conversion of belief with a powerful sonic assault on the compound -- a sound and light show transmitted instantly though the television world, a spectacular with its own media circus.

The Native Informant

Paul Carter listens to boyhood recordings and tries to find connections to his memory and country of birth. It's history, HISstory, but what comes back is just an echo of his own questions and a suspicion that beyond the recordings, other voices have been repressed. Bird calls come to symbolise the lost inner dialect of the country. Beneath the surface, a cultural genocide is neatly obscured by the cultivated voice of British imperialism.
