Escapees lead police on 300km chase
Posted
Two prisoners who escaped from jail and led police on a marathon pursuit in southern New South Wales have been charged.
The men, aged 18 and 24, were arrested on Saturday morning at Junee after they led officers on a 300-kilometre chase.
Police say they deployed two sets of road spikes but the escapees continued to drive on shredded tyres.
The pursuit only ended when the stolen four-wheel-drive came off the road and got bogged in mud.
The pair have been refused bail and are due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today.
