Hugh Laurie to release album

House star Hugh Laurie will release a New Orleans-flavoured blues album showcasing his piano playing and singing skills.
The British actor will enter the studio later this year to record the as-yet-untitled album for Warner Bros.
A release date has yet to be announced.
The album will be produced by singer-songwriter Joe Henry, who previously worked with Allen Toussaint, Elvis Costello, Aimee Mann and Solomon Burke.
Describing himself as "drunk with excitement at this opportunity," 51-year-old Laurie - who has sung, performed and written music throughout his career - said in a statement: "the history of actors making music is a chequered one, but I promise no one will get hurt."
In addition to the regular blues piano recitals that his character Dr Gregory House performs in the drama series House, Laurie recently contributed to Meat Loaf's studio set Hang Loose, Teddy Bear.
He is also the keyboard player in the LA-based charity group Band From TV alongside fellow actors Greg Grunberg (drums), James Denton (guitar) and Bob Guiney (vocals).
