Health funding woes outrage MP

A Liberal MP for western Victoria, John Vogels, says it is outrageous that two Ballarat health services do not have enough money to meet public demand.

Ballarat Health says its dental waiting lists are 52 months long because it cannot afford to buy more dental chairs.

The Ballarat District Nursing Service has had to cancel home visits to its elderly and disabled clients because of a lack of funds.

Mr Vogels says the State Government has the money to keep the services running well.

"They've had record taxes, they're sitting on huge surpluses and one of the most important things you can do for people is make sure you look after their health and especially for aged care people," he said.
