Aussie bowlers will do it tough: McGain

Spinner Bryce McGain says the Australian bowlers have a tough challenge ahead of them against India.

McGain was replaced by Cameron White in the squad after the 36-year-old strained a muscle below his armpit heading into tomorrow's first Test.

Fellow spinner Jason Krejza failed to take a wicket in the opening tour game but McGain says he is trying to stay positive.

"It's tough bowling spin there and they love it, the Indian batsmen that is, they love playing it," he said.

"I know he's working really hard and he's confident of doing the job if it goes his way.

"Likewise, I'm sure Cameron White is over there very excited and maybe there's an opportunity for him there as well."

McGain said he has not given up on playing for Australia in the coming summer.

"It's bad bad timing I will acknowledge that, but I just hope to rest up, do the rehab to reload and play for Victoria and win games and bowl well," he said.

"I'm confident. I won't be able to swing right back into it, but when I bowl a couple of times I'll be ready to go and I'm looking forward to taking part."

White said he is ready to play if selected.

He has played in India before for Australia A and said he has been working hard on his bowling.

"I've done quite a bit of bowling over the last month which is probably what I needed," he said.

"I guess to come to India a few times before is probably a good thing.

"It's better than not being here at all before. I'd imagine Test cricket would be a lot different to Australia A so we'll just wait and see."
