Brisbane Lions co-captain Jonathan Brown has been named the club's best and fairest player for the second year in a row.

The 26-year-old half-forward beat Brownlow Medal runner-up, Simon Black, by two-and-a-half votes. Neither were selected for All-Australian honours.

Brown, who kicked 70 goals and missed just one game in 2008, has also signed on for a further four seasons with the Lions.

The influential power forward finished with 53.5 votes, Black with 51 and Luke Power (46.5), Daniel Bradshaw 43.5 and Jared Brennan 42 rounding out the top five in the Merett-Murray Medal count.
