Funds target Snowy River sportsground revamp

Posted September 5, 2008 13:32:00

A Snowy River sportsground is getting an upgrade as part of moves to give the region's young people more recreational opportunities.

The Member for Eden Monaro, Mike Kelly, announced a $650,000 grant for improvements to the Jindabyne sports field.

He says the oval brings the whole community together, and has done so since he lived there as a young man.

"I'm particularly concerned that we have great facilities available for the youth in our region," he said.

"Sport is a very key component of that, so I'm really delighted that we were able to come through with the $650,000 for upgrading the Jindabyne sports field.

"I've played touch football on that ground and it's wonderful to see in summer how that whole community ... gets involved in that."
