Outgoing Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has warned the Knights pose a significant threat to Brisbane's prospects of finishing in the NRL's top four.

The Broncos currently occupy fifth position, but could drop to sixth with a loss against Newcastle at Lang Park in Brisbane tonight.

The eighth-placed Knights travel north fighting for their season and desperately need a win to secure a place in the semi-finals.

A win for the Knights will consolidate its place in the top eight.

Bennett says the Knights can not be underestimated after they posted an upset 17-16 win over the Melbourne Storm in Newcastle last week.

"They're playing good football - it's good to see the way they're playing they'll be tough," he said.

"They'll be playing for a lot here... they won't be trying to ruin our party they'll be trying to get into the final eight."

The match will be the last regular season home game for several Broncos' players and Bennett, who will join St George Illawarra next year after 21 seasons at the helm in Brisbane.

Bennett says he will not let the emotion of the evening get in the way.

"We just get on with our job here - that's what I asked them to do in February, they've been tremendous and I remain true to myself," he said.

"That's what I asked when I released the press release and nothing's changed - the season's not finished until it finishes.

"I've got a job to do and that's what I'll remain focused on."

The Broncos will wear their heritage jerseys as a tribute to Bennett.

Brisbane players will run on to Lang Park in a replica of the strip worn in its first match against Manly in 1988.
