A neglected puppy is cared for by the RSPCA.

The WA Labor Party has pledged to double its funding to the RSPCA if it wins the election.

The animal welfare organisation receives $250,000 a year from the government, but this only covers about 3% of its costs.

The Education Minister, Mark McGowan says it is a worthwhile cause.

"It's important that we recognise the significant role that this organisation plays in protecting animals in our community, and educating the public on the humane treatment of animals," he said.
