Small business summit focuses on drought survival

Posted August 28, 2008 13:00:00

A summit in north central Victoria has heard how businesses in small towns can survive the financial impact of the drought.

The Small Towns Summit started yesterday in Lockington, near Echuca, and looks at opportunities for economic development.

Business consultant Adrian Kennelly says the effect of the drought on businesses has been varied, and some have been able to adapt well.

He says business people in small towns can become isolated and should make an effort to network.

"The successful businesses that I've spoken about have made a real investment in networking. Whether its electronically, over the phone, searching the net or researching new ideas," he said.
