Australian photojournalist Nigel Brennan, who is believed to have been abducted by gunmen in Somalia, is reportedly unharmed.

In January, Mr Brennan left Bundaberg's Newsmail newspaper to work as a freelance photographer.

He was planning to work on a story about the refugee camps in Somalia and was aware of the dangers.

Mr Brennan disappeared on Saturday along with a Canadian journalist, their translator, and a driver.

The organisation Reporters Without Borders says it has received information that the four have been moved to an unknown location but are in good health.

It is still unclear who is responsible for their abduction.

Meanwhile, the head of the UN's refugee agency in Mogadishu has been released unharmed by gunmen.

He was kidnapped two months ago south-west of the capital, the same area where Mr Brennan disappeared.
