IBM Australia will expand its operation at Ballarat and create 300 new jobs.

The technology company will build a $10-million IT services centre at Ballarat University's technology park.

The company currently has 800 employees in Ballarat.

It says the new centre will provide an additonal 300 business processing, technical support and call centre jobs over the next five years.

The Victoria Premier, John Brumby toured IBM's Ballarat office this morning.

He says Ballarat has established itself as a centre of excellence for information and communications technologies.
