Council green lights chopper expansion

Posted August 22, 2008 13:04:00

The Mid Western Regional Council has approved the expansion of a local helicopter company at the Mudgee airport.

Commercial Helicopters has bought council owned land at the site to allow a new maintenance facility to be built at its premises.

The mid western regional general manager, Warwick Bennett, says it is an important first step in the council's overall plan for growth at the local airport.

"This is the first cab off the rank, for want of a better term, in terms of making sure the airport is growing," he said.

"Commercial helicopters are the first catalyst to make that happen, it's really very exciting."
