Cowboy Southern ready for tough Knights clash

Posted August 22, 2008 09:13:00

North Queensland Cowboys second rower Steve Southern says tomorrow night's clash with the Knights in Newcastle will be won in the forwards.

The Cowboys are looking for a win to lift them off the bottom of the NRL ladder, while the Knights are desperate for points to get them into the top eight.

Southern says his team is looking forward to the challenge of outplaying the Knights big forward pack.

"They've got a really big forward pack and it's a great challenge for us to get over the top of them and get momentum for our outside backs," he said.

"That's the big challenge for us. It's not just individual challenges, it's a whole group challenge at the moment."

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have boosted their forward strength for next season, signing Melbourne prop Antonio Kaufusi for three years.
