Police investigating the murder of a Port Kennedy woman say the man accused of killing her may be charged with other offences.

39-year-old Paul George Kowaleff made a brief appearance in the Rockingham Magistrate's Court this morning charged with the murder of 48-year-old Darlene Nielson.

Police found Ms Nielson's body in her Port Kennedy home on Monday night after her family raised concerns for her welfare.

Detective Sergeant James Bradly says police will await the results of a post mortem examination.

"We are speaking to family members and as a result of other inquiries we've made we may well be looking at further charges, "he said.

Mr Kowaleff was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again next week.
