Bangladesh goes down to AIS

Posted August 18, 2008 22:40:00

The Bangladesh cricket team has lost its opening tour match in Darwin, going down to the Australian Institute of Sport XI in a nail-biting finish.

Bangladesh is playing four warm-up games against the AIS before taking on the might of the Australian team in three one-day internationals.

The tourists' bowling attack appeared brittle as the future stars of Australian cricket piled on 4 for 330 from 50 overs.

Matthew Wade slammed 55 off 38 balls, Greg Moller and Peter Forrest both compiled half centuries and captain Moises Henriques belted 71 runs from 59.

The Bangladesh run chase got off to a flier as Tamim Iqbal blasted 85 from 45, and captain Mahammad Ashraful kept the tourists in the game with a quickfire 71.

In the end the total was just beyond the tourists' reach as they finished all out for 316 in the final over.
