Talks focus on regional road funding

Posted August 18, 2008 13:15:00

Regional road funding will be the focus of high level discussions on the New South Wales mid-north coast today.

The federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Anthony Albanese, will meet former state independent Rob Oakeshott, the regional economic development council and councillors.

Mr Albanese says the Federal Government has committed $3.1 million for black spots and local roads on the mid-north coast.

He says that figure is up by more than a third.

"Some of that money, $230,000, will go into fixing a dangerous black spot at Rawdon Island," he said.

"More than a million dollars for the Port Macquarie Hastings Council for the Roads to Recovery program and also $700,000 for Kempsey council."
