Sydney FC coach John Kosmina says he is not blaming the filming of an A-League advert for injuring key striker John Aloisi.

Marquee signing Aloisi will miss the opening round of the A-League season with a foot injury that will keep him out for up to six weeks.

Sydney takes on Queensland at Campbelltown in the opening round of the pre-season cup tonight.

Kosmina says it is just unfortunate that Aloisi aggravated the injury.

"Well the reason we sent Johnny was because he couldn't join in the game we played that night," he said.

"He wasn't able to play and we want to do the right thing by the league."

"And the conditions down there weren't comfortable, it was cold and he was on his feet for a long period of time and the injury got aggravated and that's how it goes."
