New mum charged for breaching drug restrictions

Posted July 1, 2008 18:34:00

Police say a mother who left Logan Hospital shortly after giving birth on the weekend has been arrested.

Hospital staff became concerned when the 26-year-old woman left with her newborn son on Sunday night.

She was arrested at a house at River Road in Ipswich and taken to hospital for checks.

Police say the woman has been charged with breaching her drug court restrictions and will remain in custody until she faces court on Thursday.

The baby is still at Ipswich Base Hospital where he was taken by relatives last night.
