75 years of Australian Radio
At 8 o'clock on the 23rd November 1923, people in households across Sydney huddled expectantly around a new piece of equipment, the wireless, and tuned in to hear Miss Deering, Miss Druitt, Mr Thorp, Mr Pick, Mr Saunders and the St Andrews Choir perform 'The Swan' from Saint Saens' famous work The Carnival of the Animals, and create history. It was Australia's inaugural radio broadcast. Here are some of the many highlights from the 75 years of radio brought to you by 2BL.
