Nation's oldest land rights laws under review

Australia's oldest land rights legislation will be reviewed to ensure Aboriginal people are benefiting from changes to the way their land is managed.

The Land Rights Trust Act was established in South Australia 42 years ago, the first legislation of its kind in Australia.

The Queensland Government says preliminary negotiations have started for a new regional airline to provide passenger flights to the Torres Strait in the far north.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has requested more information from Aerotropics after a proposal by the grounded airline to resume flight services to the Torres Strait off far north Queensland.
Aviation investigators says there was probably nothing a pilot could do to avoid a plane crash last year.
The State Govt has again defended security at Qld Health accommodation in the Torres Strait.
Queensland Senator Sue Boyce says a Senate inquiry will investigate the cost of living in the Torres Strait.
A 21-year-old woman is in hospital after being attacked by a man in the Torres Strait.
The Federal Government says it is trying to arrange charter flights for about 70 stranded school students in the Torres Strait off far north Queensland.
Queensland Transport says it is working with airlines to try to improve services across the Torres Strait in the wake of Aero Tropics being grounded.
Leaders in the Torres Strait, off far north Queensland, say the grounding of the airline Aero Tropics has left many Islanders stranded.
Grounded airline Aero Tropics has started negotiations with other aviation companies in order to resume flight services to remote communities in far north Queensland as soon as possible.
