Over the past 10 days, the world has been watching the Georgian and Russian forces fight over the disputed breakaway region of South Ossetia. And most people have just been trying to work out what's going on.

In the southern state of Tennessee, there's Elvis Presley's Graceland, Dolly Parton's Dollywood, and scores of competing museums devoted to Davy Crockett. But as our New York based correspondent, Ginny Stein, discovered on a visit this week to the former railway terminus of Chattanooga in the southern city of Tennessee, it is also where one memorable moment in motoring history began and a small group of Australians are amongst those honoured.
