Over the past 10 days, the world has been watching the Georgian and Russian forces fight over the disputed breakaway region of South Ossetia. And most people have just been trying to work out what's going on.

Zimbabwe losing hope, Aussie expat says

Power sharing negotiations between Zimbabwe's political rivals are underway. The key players are in South Africa this weekend to attend a regional summit and both President Robert Mugabe and Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai are under intense pressure to strike a deal. At home the economy has deteriorated even further and people are desperate for food. Australian Jim Holland is living in Harare with his wife Sekai, an Opposition senator, and he has told our Africa correspondent, Andrew Geoghegan, that Zimbabweans are losing hope.

Shrine to tow truck drivers in America's South

Driving across America the list of "firsts", "largest", and "most spectacular" or tributes to past and living greats are never ending. In the southern state of Tennessee, there's Elvis Presley's Graceland, Dolly Parton's Dollywood, and scores of competing museums devoted to Davy Crockett. But as our New York based correspondent, Ginny Stein, discovered on a visit this week to the former railway terminus of Chattanooga in the southern city of Tennessee, it is also where one memorable moment in motoring history began and a small group of Australians are amongst those honoured.
