The ABC Advisory Council

Recommendations and Commendations 20 - 21 February 2003

Recommendations

Gimme Gimme

Recommendation R1/1/03 - Director of Television
Council members unanimously agreed that Gimme Gimme was not of a standard expected of ABC comedy programming. Council was of the view that this program is a detriment to the ABC comedy lineup and below the expectation of comedy programs on the ABC.

Outback upfront

Recommendation R2/1/03 - Director of Television
Council commends this program for the opportunity taken to showcase the work of young filmmakers. It was good to see the ABC take the initiative in using the material. Council recognises the difficulties in scheduling such a program to a regional audience but noted that the timeslot allocated would be when many people in regional areas would still be out working. Council would like the ABC to investigate other avenues for using the work of young filmmakers and look at ways that this material could be repackages and rescheduled.
