Don't just sit there! Become a part of our team and send us your images from the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
You won't be the first... you can see pictures sent by other ABC Sport Online users here.
You can either email us your snaps or send them via MMS from your phone. It's quick and easy and a selection of the images will appear on our site as part of ABC Sport Online's coverage of the Games.
Email your pictures and video to
or to send them via MMS to 0448 859 894. Why not put this email address and number in your phone contacts and address books now - you never know when you'll be on the spot.
Feel free to get creative with your photography. We're not so much interested in action snaps of the events themselves (although feel free to send them in if you take them).
What we're really after is your "Games experience" - you need not even be at an event. In fact, you may not even be in Melbourne. Wherever you are, anywhere in the world, if you're enjoying the Games, and you've recorded it for posterity, we want to see it.
Read on for ABC Online's guidelines for submitting photos and video, either by email or MMS...
Breaking news
If you photograph a news event using a mobile phone or still camera, under no circumstances should you endanger yourself or others. You should not take any other risks or hinder emergency authorities going about their jobs. The ABC will not incur any liability in relation to the gathering of these images and video.
Any photographs or video of a major event may be used almost immediately by the ABC. For this reason we require some text explaining just what the photograph depicts, when it was taken and other information which you think might be relevant.
We may also need to contact you to verify some of the details in the photograph and to establish whether you’re happy to have a credit published with the photo. This will help your chances of having a photo selected for use on the ABC’s online news website.
What we require:
You can submit video and photographs.
Ideally, you should aim to take a range of images. If possible pay attention to framing. Don’t get so focused on the photo’s subject that you ignore what else is going on around them. Watch out for poles, trees and power lines.
Of course, if the story is big enough, you simply do not have the time to consider issues such as framing. Send them in anyhow.
- Please send JPG pictures that are no larger than 800 X 600 pixels. Please limit each email and MMS to a maximum of five images.
- Do not send images that have been manipulated in a digital editing program.
- Please only send us photos of your own work, or photos you have permission to send on to us for publication.
When you take picture, think about whether it might be possible to get a better angle. The photo might be more interesting if you can get to a higher or lower vantage point.
Our use of photographs and videos will be governed by the ABC’s editorial policies.
Remember that the ABC offers the best regional news coverage of any website in Australia. We would welcome photos of news events in your community.
Terms and conditions
If you submit a photograph or video, you do so in accordance with the following Terms and Conditions. In contributing to ABC News Online you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media worldwide.
This may include the use of your photos or video on ABC television, transmission of the material by our overseas partners and syndication to our Australian content partners. You still own the copyright to everything you contribute to ABC News.
If your photo(s) and/or video is accepted, we will endeavour to give you credit on publication, should you require it and where it is practical to do so. The ABC reserves the right to determine what photos and video will be used and we reserve the right to edit your comments.
In contributing these images, you warrant that you are the copyright holder or have the permission of the copyright holder to send us the images and to use them as described above.
At no time should you endanger yourself or others, take any unnecessary risks or infringe any laws in obtaining the images or sending them to us for publication.
