Colin joined the network in 1987 and in 1991 won the Sounds Australian Composers' Award for the Most Distinguished Contribution to the Presentation of Australian Classical Music by a Radio or Television Station or Broadcaster.
Colin is a graduate of Monash University (B.Sc.1st Class Honours) and the Australian National University (Ph.D in Pure Mathematics).
Colin has played in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's clarinet section. He has also sung with the Melbourne Chorale in concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Victorian College of the Arts Orchestra.
Following 14 years as a research mathematician, teacher and computer programmer, Colin says that an enjoyable mid-life crisis pushed him from the classroom and into ABC Classic FM. By a happy coincidence, his first day at the ABC was Beethoven's birthday - December 16.
