Comedian, Emmy-winning TV star and Sarah Palin lookalike Tina Fey has signed a book deal with Little, Brown Book Group.

The New York Post has reported that the deal is worth more than $US5 million and that "her book is not being pitched as a memoir, but instead as non-fiction humour, more in the style of author, screenwriter and film director Nora Ephron."

The publisher did not confirm the advance paid nor give any further details of the book by Fey - the Saturday Night Live veteran who stars as a harried head writer of a TV variety show in 30 Rock. The show picked up four Emmys last month.

Fey has recently attracted attention for impersonating Republican vice-presidential candidate Ms Palin in parodies on Saturday Night Live.
